Kodokan
Boston has been practicing in the Boston area since 1990.
In that time, we have developed a strong dojo with a good
atmosphere. Membership in our dojo is by invitation
only.
We offer introductory Karate classes for $35.00. They take place during the first part of our regular training. If you are interested in an introductory class, would like to observe a class, or just want to learn more about our group and the arts we practice, please feel free to email us.

Class Descriptions:
We offer Introductory Classes that are designed to show a beginning student some of what we do, and how we practice. They let a beginner get a better sense of us and our dojo. After the beginner’s class, a new student can then join the dojo, and become a member of Kodokan Boston, with a head start on the training we do. The beginner’s course consists of 3 classes, each 30 minutes long. They cover the basics of our movement, and give the student a start on the fundamentals of Goju Ryu Karate.
The first class introduces our basic stances, and body positions:
Kiotsuke
Yoi
Kihon dachi
Seiken
Moriote kamae
The second class introduces some of our basic hand techniques and stepping:
Jodan, chudan, Gedan tsuki
Jodan, gedan uke
Aruki waza
The third class introduces more hand techniques, and our basic kick, as well as moving with the techniques:
Chudan uke
Mae geri
Stepping basics
Once these classes are complete, the student is ready to start learning our first kata, and the rest of our fundamental training.
